Christopher Hatton Dress Code
At Christopher Hatton we do not have a compulsory school uniform however we do expect children to arrive to school in clothes that are appropriate for a learning environment. We want our pupils to understand that having the right to wear your own clothes comes with the responsibility to make good decisions about what to wear. This means that clothes and shoes should be safe, easy to move around in, age appropriate, warm enough for weather conditions and suitable for an academic institution.
Examples of inappropriate clothing:
- Cropped tops that reveal the midriff
- Fancy dress such as large puffy princess dresses/super hero masks
- Flip flops or high heeled shoes
- Slogan t shirts with words or images that could be considered offensive or scary
- Ripped tights and fishnet tights
- Very short skirts and shorts
We ask for your support to ensure that pupils do not wear clothes that limit movement, hinder communication, are unsafe, too revealing or contain offensive slogans. Pupils wearing these clothes may be asked to wear alternative clothing provided by the school in these instances. This list is not exhaustive and staff may make decisions about items that are not covered here.
We do sell Christopher Hatton T-Shirts, sweatshirts and fleeces which pupils may choose to wear - see below for further information.
PE: Please make sure your child wears clothes and footwear suitable for sports on their PE days. Suitable PE kit includes, shorts, leggings, track suit and a T-shirt or fleece and trainers. Christopher Hatton PE Kit is navy shorts/leggings/jogging bottoms + white T-shirt – we would prefer you to stick to these colours.
LOST PROPERTY: young children in particular lose clothes very easily and we have to dispose of large amounts of lost items every year. Please name clothes.
